Rise Budget ("we," "us," or "our"), a registered business name of MJC Software Pty Ltd, operates the Rise Budget website (https://risebudget.com) and the Rise Budget desktop application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
We collect information you voluntarily provide when you:
- Contact customer support (email address, message content)
- Join our waitlist (email address)
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, we may automatically collect:

1.3 Payment Information
Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store (macOS) or Microsoft Store (Windows). Rise Budget does not handle or store payment information. The stores handle all payment processing.
- We do NOT receive or store your payment card details
- We do NOT receive your purchase email — the store handles this
- We only receive aggregated sales reports from the stores
1.4 Desktop Application Data
The Rise Budget desktop application stores your financial data locally on your computer:
- All transaction data, budgets, and categories are stored in a local SQLite database
- Your financial data is NOT transmitted to our servers
- We do NOT have access to your personal financial information
- License validation happens entirely on your device — no purchase data or receipt data is transmitted to our servers
- The application does not currently collect analytics, telemetry, or crash report data. If this changes in a future version, we will update this policy and notify you before any data collection begins.
1.5 Waitlist Information
When you join our waitlist on the Coming Soon page:
- We collect only your email address
- Your email is stored securely with our email service provider (Resend)
- We use your email solely to notify you when Rise Budget launches
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send
- Waitlist emails will be deleted within 90 days after launch for non-customers

Waitlist email addresses are stored securely with our email provider (Resend). No purchase data, license keys, or financial information is stored on our servers.

Your budget data is stored locally on your computer at:

You are responsible for backing up your local data. We cannot recover lost local data.
4.3 Security Measures
We employ industry-standard security practices including:
- Local-only licence validation — receipt data never leaves your device
- HTTPS encryption for all website communications
- Rate limiting to prevent abuse
- No storage of payment card details or purchase records on our servers
5. Data Retention
We retain your information as follows:
- Support correspondence – 2 years from last contact
- Local application data – Controlled entirely by you on your device
- Waitlist emails – Until product launch, then deleted within 90 days for non-customers
