Welcome to Rise Budget. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rise Budget website (https://risebudget.com) and the Rise Budget desktop application. By accessing our website or downloading the software, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By joining our waitlist, you consent to receive a one-time email notification when Rise Budget launches. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle waitlist information.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing our website or downloading Rise Budget, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- You agree to comply with these Terms
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or download our software.
2. The Service
Rise Budget is desktop budgeting software that allows you to:
- Track income and expenses
- Create and manage budgets
- Import transactions from CSV files
- Categorize transactions
- View financial reports and charts
The software stores all data locally on your computer.
3. License
Rise Budget is free. Downloading the Software grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software on any of your personal devices. Full functionality is available from day one with no trial period, no purchase required, and no account needed.

Updates within the current major version (e.g., v1.x) are provided free of charge via the App Store or Microsoft Store.
4. Free Distribution
Rise Budget is distributed free of charge through the Apple App Store (macOS) and Microsoft Store (Windows). There are no In-App Purchases, no subscriptions, and no one-time fees. Rise Budget does not process any payments.
If a paid tier is introduced in a future version, these Terms will be updated accordingly.
5. Refund Policy
As Rise Budget is free, there is no purchase to refund. If you experience a software defect and believe you are entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law (see Section 12), contact us at support@risebudget.com and we will work with you in good faith.
6. Device Access
The Software may be installed on any of your personal devices. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Microsoft Store on each device. No activation, account, or licence key is required.
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Ownership
Rise Budget and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by Rise Budget (MJC Software Pty Ltd) and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 Limited License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software. This license is governed by our End User License Agreement (EULA).
7.3 Your Data
You retain full ownership of any data you create or import into Rise Budget. Your data is stored locally on your device.
8. Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to:
- Share, sell, or distribute license access
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the software
- Use the software for illegal purposes
- Circumvent or tamper with any protection mechanism in the Software
- Create derivative works from the software
- Use automated means to access our website
9. Not Financial Advice
The Software is for informational and organizational purposes only. Rise Budget is not a financial advisor, accountant, or tax professional. The Software does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions, and you should consult a qualified professional for advice tailored to your specific situation.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
EXCEPT FOR THE CONSUMER GUARANTEES REQUIRED BY AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW (SEE SECTION 12), THE SERVICE AND SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:
- The software will be error-free or uninterrupted
- The software will meet your specific requirements
- Any financial decisions made using the software will be successful
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RISE BUDGET SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Any amount exceeding AUD $50 (as the Software is provided free of charge)
12. Australian Consumer Law
If you are an Australian consumer, you have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights, including the right to a refund if goods are faulty and the right to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rise Budget from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the software
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your license immediately if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your right to use the software ceases
- You must uninstall the software
- Your local data remains on your device
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Queensland, Australia.
16. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Rise Budget regarding the Service. See also our Privacy Policy.
