Welcome to Rise Budget. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rise Budget website (https://risebudget.com) and any purchases made through it. By accessing our website or purchasing a license, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
By joining our waitlist, you consent to receive a one-time email notification when Rise Budget launches. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle waitlist information.
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing our website or purchasing a license for Rise Budget, you represent that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- You agree to comply with these Terms
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our website or purchase our software.
2. The Service
Rise Budget is desktop budgeting software that allows you to:
- Track income and expenses
- Create and manage budgets
- Import transactions from CSV files
- Categorize transactions
- View financial reports and charts
The software stores all data locally on your computer.
3. License Types
We offer the following license types:

Each license may be activated on up to 2 (two) devices simultaneously.
4. Purchases and Payments
4.1 Pricing
All prices are displayed in your local currency where available. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change without notice.
4.2 Payment Processing
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information.
4.3 License Delivery
Upon successful payment, your license key will be sent to the email address provided. Please ensure your email address is correct.
4.4 Taxes
Displayed prices may not include applicable taxes. Any required taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
5. Subscriptions
5.1 Subscription Terms
Annual and 3-Year licenses are subscription-based:
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each term
- You will be notified before renewal
- Renewal will be charged to your original payment method
5.2 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time:
- Cancel through your Stripe customer portal (link provided in your license email)
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- You retain access until your paid period ends
- No partial refunds for unused time after cancellation
6. Refund Policy
6.1 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We offer a full refund within 30 days of purchase if:
- You are not satisfied with the software
- The software does not function as described
- You have not violated these Terms
6.2 How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, email support@risebudget.com with:
- Your license key or order email
- Reason for the refund request
Refunds are typically processed within 5-10 business days.
6.3 Refund Limitations
Refunds may be denied if:
- The request is made after 30 days from purchase
- There is evidence of abuse or fraud
- You have previously received a refund for Rise Budget
Upon refund, your license will be revoked and the software will cease to function.
7. License Activation and Devices
7.1 Activation
Your license key must be activated online to use the software. Activation links your license to your device.
7.2 Device Limits
Each license may be active on up to two (2) devices simultaneously. If you install the Software on a new device, you may simply enter your license key to activate it. If you exceed the device limit, the Software may prompt you to purchase an additional license.
7.3 Machine Transfers
We track device activations to enforce license limits. If you replace a device, you may activate your license on the new device without contacting support, provided you remain within the two-device limit.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Ownership
Rise Budget and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by Rise Budget (MJC Software Pty Ltd) and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
8.2 Limited License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the software. This license is governed by our End User License Agreement (EULA).
8.3 Your Data
You retain full ownership of any data you create or import into Rise Budget. Your data is stored locally on your device.
9. Prohibited Uses
You agree NOT to:
- Share, sell, or distribute license keys
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the software
- Use the software for illegal purposes
- Attempt to bypass license validation
- Create derivative works from the software
- Use automated means to access our website
10. Not Financial Advice
The Software is for informational and organizational purposes only. Rise Budget is not a financial advisor, accountant, or tax professional. The Software does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You are solely responsible for your own financial decisions, and you should consult a qualified professional for advice tailored to your specific situation.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
EXCEPT FOR THE CONSUMER GUARANTEES REQUIRED BY AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW (SEE SECTION 13), THE SERVICE AND SOFTWARE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:
- The software will be error-free or uninterrupted
- The software will meet your specific requirements
- Any financial decisions made using the software will be successful
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RISE BUDGET SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
- Any amount exceeding the purchase price you paid
13. Australian Consumer Law
If you are an Australian consumer, you have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights, including the right to a refund if goods are faulty and the right to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rise Budget from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the software
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
15. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your license immediately if you violate these Terms. Upon termination:
- Your right to use the software ceases
- You must uninstall the software
- Your local data remains on your device
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Queensland, Australia.
17. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
19. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and Rise Budget regarding the Service. See also our Privacy Policy.
