Backing Up Your Data

Keep your budget safe with regular backups

Overview

Because Rise Budget stores your data locally, backups are important. This guide covers how to export and protect your budget files.

Cloud Sync

If you want backups across devices, enable cloud sync in Settings. Rise Budget uses your existing cloud storage provider so your data stays under your control.

  1. Open Settings and go to the Sync tab
  2. Choose your preferred cloud storage provider
  3. Follow the sign-in prompts to connect your account

Manual Export

You can export your full budget at any time:

  • Go to Settings > Data and click 'Export Data'
  • Choose a secure location such as an external drive or encrypted folder
  • Repeat monthly or after major changes

Restoring Data

To restore from a backup, go to Settings > Data and select the backup file. Rise Budget will load the backup and replace the current local data.

Best Practices

  • Back up before major changes like bulk imports
  • Keep multiple backups with dates in the filename
  • Store at least one backup off your main computer
