Import Demo Data

Get started quickly with sample transaction and budget data

Overview

Want to explore Rise Budget without entering your own data? We've prepared two years of realistic household data — including transactions and monthly budget plans — so you can see all the features in action right away.

Step 1: Download Demo Data

Download both CSV files below. You'll import these into Rise Budget in the next steps.

  1. Download Transaction Datatwo years of sample household spending across 20+ categories
  2. Download Budget Datamonthly budget targets from January 2024 to December 2026

Step 2: Import Transactions

First, import the transaction data so Rise Budget has spending history to work with.

  1. Open Rise Budget and navigate to the Import CSV page from the sidebar
  2. Click 'Select File' and choose the downloaded rise-budget-demo-transaction-data.csv file
  3. Check that the column mapping is correct and select 'International (DD/MM/YYYY)' for the date format
  4. Check the preview table on the right to confirm your data looks correct, then click 'Continue'
  5. Rise Budget automatically analyzes and categorizes your transactions — this takes a moment
  6. Click 'Import All Transactions' on the review page to add all transactions to your budget

Step 3: Import Budget Data

Next, import the budget data to set monthly spending targets for each category.

  1. Go to the Settings page from the sidebar
  2. Click on the Data tab
  3. Under the Budget Data heading, click the Import button
  4. Select the downloaded rise-budget-demo-budget-data.csv file and choose 'Replace' mode
  5. Go to the Budget page from the sidebar and click 'View Budget' — budget amounts will be displayed above the actual monthly totals for each category

Exploring the Data

With both transactions and budget data imported, you can explore all of Rise Budget's features:

  • Check the Overview charts to see spending patterns and income vs expenses over time
  • Toggle 'Budget Projection' on the Overview Summary chart to see projected income and expenses based on the budget
  • Open the Budget Planner to see the monthly targets and how they compare to actual spending

Data Cleanup

When you're ready to use Rise Budget with your own data, remove the demo data:

  1. Go to the Settings page from the sidebar
  2. Click on the Data tab
  3. Click 'Clear All Data' to remove all demo transactions and budget data
