Moving to Rise Budget

Migrating From Another App

Move your budget data into Rise Budget from another tool

Overview

Switching budgeting apps doesn't have to be hard. This guide walks you through exporting your data, importing it into Rise Budget, and getting comfortable with your new setup.

Prepare Your Export

Most apps let you export transactions as a CSV file.

  • Export all transactions, not just the current month
  • Include descriptions, dates, and amounts
  • Note your existing categories so you can recreate them in Rise Budget

Import Into Rise Budget

Once you have a CSV export, import it the same way you would a bank statement:

  1. Open the Import CSV page
  2. Select your exported CSV file
  3. Map the columns to Rise Budget fields
  4. Review and import the transactions

Reconcile Your Balances

After importing, compare your Rise Budget totals to your old app for the same date range. Small differences are usually due to duplicate transfers or pending transactions.

Clean Up

  • Merge duplicate categories
  • Recreate any savings goals in the Budget Planner
  • Set up your monthly budgets for the current year
