Understanding household members in Rise Budget

What are members?

A member — short for household member — is a person in your household whose income and expenses are tracked in your budget. This could be a partner, child, roommate, or anyone else whose transactions you want to include.

Why track members?

Tracking members helps you understand your household finances more clearly:

  • See who earned and spent what across categories
  • Split shared costs fairly between people
  • Plan budgets that account for each person's contribution

Adding members

Add members before you import or categorise transactions:

  1. Open Settings and go to the Members tab
  2. Add each household member by name
  3. Save your changes

Assigning members to transactions

Once members are set up, you can assign a member to any transaction during CSV import or by editing the transaction afterwards.

Tips

  • You only need to track members if it is useful for your household
  • A transaction can be left unassigned if it does not belong to a specific person
  • Use member filters on the Transactions and Budget pages to focus on one person
